the table
Finestra, awarded its first Michelin star in 2025 after only sixteen months of opening, and retaining it in 2026, invites its guests to immerse themselves in the singular world imagined by Italo Bassi and brought to life with exacting standards by Edoardo Menna.
Through an approach in which precision of technique meets emotion, the restaurant offers a refined and contemporary gastronomic experience, deeply rooted in the Mediterranean. Each creation expresses a vision: that of an author’s cuisine, subtle and masterful, where the finest ingredients, the memory of terroirs, and creative impulse come together in a true journey for the senses.
As the first Michelin-starred restaurant in Bonifacio’s history, finestra now embodies a pursuit of excellence that contributes to the gastronomic influence of the citadel.
The chefs
Italo Bassi and Edoardo Menna
At the helm of finestra, two personalities embody a shared vision of Italian culinary excellence: Italo Bassi, an iconic chef with an exceptional career, and Edoardo Menna, a young talent whose precision and sensitivity define the identity of the house.
A leading figure in Italian haute gastronomy, Italo Bassi brought Enoteca Pinchiorri to the pinnacle of the Michelin Guide before creating Confusion, then the only Michelin-starred restaurant on the Costa Smeralda. Renowned for his discipline, creativity, and deep attachment to his roots, he champions a demanding cuisine in which technical mastery is placed at the service of emotion. In 2023, he chose Bonifacio to create finestra and D’Amore, infusing both venues with a singular signature shaped by elegance, soul, and exacting standards.
At his side, Edoardo Menna, Executive Chef, brings a refined and contemporary culinary language to life. Trained in leading establishments, notably alongside Alain Ducasse, Yannick Alléno, and Luciano Zazzeri, he combines classical heritage with a modern perspective in a remarkably balanced way. His cuisine, deeply attentive to the ingredient and profoundly inspired by the local territory, reveals the richness of Corsica with precision, delicacy, and respect. A long-time collaborator of Italo Bassi, he shares the same pursuit of excellence.
Together, they create at finestra a gastronomic experience in which Italy enters into dialogue with Corsica, in a subtle balance of memory, creativity, and emotion. In 2025, the restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star, making finestrathe very first Michelin-starred restaurant in Bonifacio’s history. In 2026, it retained this distinction, confirming both the consistency of its high standards and the singularity of its culinary identity.
The Cuisine
Finestra, a Michelin-starred restaurant, welcomes its guests for a full immersion into the chef’s world. Through bold and refined cuisine, he unveils his unique approach to the culinary arts: a true advocate of experimental eno-gastronomy, he combines technical precision with personal inspiration to take his guests on a multisensory journey, where design and gastronomy meet with harmony and poetry.
The place
The Gardera-Pastre architecture workshop has revisted this exceptional location, respecting its historical background, reviving it to its former grandeur. Previously an ancient shipyard from the Genoese era, the resturant now reveals a contemporary setting with meticulous attention to detail. Whether it’s the volumes, the materials or the shades of colour used, everything is unique. Its history is omnipresent, the hull of an overturned boat forms the ceiling complete with mast, sails and helices gilded with fine gold by the ateliers Gohard. The Finestra’s bay window offers a unique panoramic view over Bonifacio’s port, whilst the majestic hammered mirror recalls the movements of the sea, inviting us to embark on a journey.
